Golf trip kit

St Andrews golf trip kit

The home of golf. A St Andrews trip is a pilgrimage for most groups, and the kit should feel like it. Here’s the guide, and a crest stitched with the coordinates of the town itself.

Where you'll play

  • The Old Course, plus the New, Jubilee, Eden, Strathtyrum and Castle courses, all run by St Andrews Links.
  • Kingsbarns, a few miles down the coast.
  • Carnoustie, across the Tay in Angus, and an easy day trip.

Old Course tee times are booked in advance or through the daily ballot, so it’s worth checking the current rules with St Andrews Links before you plan the week.

When to go

May to September is the main season, with very long evenings in June and July. Spring and autumn are quieter, with more changeable weather.

Getting there

Fly into Edinburgh; St Andrews is about an hour and a quarter by car. Leuchars is the nearest railway station.

Your St Andrews kit

Navy with white stitching is the classic choice for St Andrews, and pairs well with a jumper on a breezy day. Put “St Andrews” on the crest and your trip name below, and the coordinates go on the back of the cap and the left sleeve.

Questions groups ask

What should we put on the crest for a St Andrews trip?

Most groups use “St Andrews” with the year, or the society name and year on the second line. If you’re playing several Fife courses, “Fife” works too.

How far ahead should we order?

Order at least three weeks before you travel. Everything is embroidered to order, which takes a few working days, and delivery takes a few more. If your trip is sooner, get in touch first.

Can everyone pay for their own kit?

Yes. Design the kit once, then choose “Invite the group instead”. You get one link for the group chat; everyone picks their own size, men’s or women’s fit, and pays for their own, with a group discount.
