Algarve golf trip kit
The Algarve is one of Europe’s favourite golf trips: short flights into Faro, sunshine for most of the year, and dozens of courses within an hour of each other. Here’s what groups need to know, and a matching kit stitched with the coordinates of where you stay.
Where you'll play
- Vilamoura: the Old Course, Victoria (former home of the Portugal Masters), Laguna and Pinhal.
- Quinta do Lago: the South, North and Laranjal courses.
- Vale do Lobo: the Royal and Ocean courses, with holes along the cliffs.
- Penina: Sir Henry Cotton’s championship course near Portimão.
- Monte Rei: a Jack Nicklaus design in the quieter east of the Algarve.
When to go
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best months for golf: warm, dry and not too hot. Summer is hot and busy; winter is mild, and green fees are often lower.
Getting there
Fly into Faro. Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo are all a short drive from the airport, which is why the Algarve works so well for long weekends.
Your Algarve kit
Most Algarve groups pick the navy kit with white stitching: it looks sharp in strong sun and in the photos at the 19th. Put your base on the crest (Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo or the name of your villa), your trip name and year on the line below, and the coordinates go on the back of the cap and the left sleeve.
Questions groups ask
Which place should we put on the crest for an Algarve trip?
Wherever the group will remember: the town you stay in (Vilamoura, Carvoeiro), the resort, or simply “Algarve”. The coordinates are worked out from the place you choose, and you can change them.
How far ahead should we order?
Order at least three weeks before you travel. Everything is embroidered to order, which takes a few working days, and delivery takes a few more. If your trip is sooner, get in touch first.
Can everyone pay for their own kit?
Yes. Design the kit once, then choose “Invite the group instead”. You get one link for the group chat; everyone picks their own size, men’s or women’s fit, and pays for their own, with a group discount.
