Royal Dornoch’s Championship course is regularly ranked among the best in the world, and the Highlands around it make one of golf’s great trips. Here’s the guide, and a kit for it.
Where you'll play
- Royal Dornoch: the Championship course and the Struie.
- Brora and Golspie, a short drive north.
- Tain, just to the south.
- Nairn and Cabot Highlands, nearer Inverness.
When to go
May to September, when the days are long and the courses are at their best. Bring layers whatever the month.
Getting there
Fly into Inverness; Dornoch is about an hour’s drive north.
Your Dornoch kit
Navy with white stitching suits the Highlands. Put “Dornoch” on the crest, “Highlands” and the year below, and the coordinates go on the back of the cap and the left sleeve.
Questions groups ask
Is it worth combining Dornoch with other Highland courses?
Most groups do: Brora, Golspie, Tain, Nairn and Cabot Highlands are all within driving distance, so a week can take in several links courses.
How far ahead should we order?
Order at least three weeks before you travel. Everything is embroidered to order, which takes a few working days, and delivery takes a few more. If your trip is sooner, get in touch first.
Can everyone pay for their own kit?
Yes. Design the kit once, then choose “Invite the group instead”. You get one link for the group chat; everyone picks their own size, men’s or women’s fit, and pays for their own, with a group discount.
